Rainpaw purred. He buried his catch quickly and waited for Mistpaw's response.
"Cheer up sis" He purred good-naturedly "It's just one mouse"
"The cough herbs are... um... Pawpaw roots for kits, right?" Mistpaw asked. She still felt bad about the mouse, and was trying to make up for it.

"Thats right!" meowed Willowstar. "Now I dont know very much about herbs, but I do know that Snowy Peak has almost all of the types, and all of the cough herbs." The ground beneath her paws was cool, remarkably, despite the hot weather down the mountain. "We try to only come here in the summer because it is dangerous to come in the Winter, too snowy."

Rainpaw nodded. He felt so excited! He was one step closer to becoming a warrior! Rainpaw eyed Mistpaw as she named the herb. When did she learn all this? Shrugging it off he sat down for a moment to rest.
Mistpaw nodded, interested. So all the cough herbs were up here. Perfect. Now she knew why she couldn't find them as a loner.

After a brief rest Willowstar decided that it was time to begin hunting again. Criuching low to the ground she opened her jaws to scent for prey, scenting a vole she began to carefully stalk it, she was then stone still, gathering her power she sprang, and quickly killed it with a bite to the neck. Walking back to the apprentices she burried the vole and began to look for more.

Rainpaw eagerly stood up to hunt some more. Mistpaw looked a little more reluctant to try again.
Hearing a rustle, Rainpaw flicked his tail to a bush.
"Try again" He whispered to Mistpaw. Mistpaw nodded. She crouched low and stalked forward, her light paws making it easy to take steps. Bunching her muscles together, Mistpaw lunged into the bush, and emerged with a mouse.
"I did it!" She mewed though the mouse.

Willowstar beamed with pride, it felt as if these apprentices were her own. "Good Job!" meowed Willowstar "See, I told you that you would get it eventually" Seeing Mistpaws happiness distracted her from her alertness and just then a noise caught her, it sounded like a badger, but smaller, she tried to think of it............. a fox. Mind snapped back into alertness she slowly made her way to the cats. Silencing them with her tail. Sensing that the wind hadn't given them away to the fox she went back and began quietly uncovering the prey, keeping it away from the wind with her pelt.

"What's wrong?" Rainpaw whispered, sensing the urgency of being quiet. Mistpaw had fear in her eyes. She wasn't the best fighter. Rainpaw was ok, but not that good. Fearfully Mistpaw crouched low, her pelt starting to bristle.

Willowstar had finished gathering the prey and stalked back towards them. "Its a fox" she wispered barely audible. Signaling with her tail she showed them to go down the mountain "You all hide in the Yew tree while I'll chase the fox away, dont worry foxes can't climb, just stay hidden and you will be OK" She went back to the top an dbegan to search for the fox to run it out of the territory, she was a little bit nervous since it was just herself but she sensed that it was only a small fox, she should be able to surprise it easily.
((Is it OK if the fox runs towards the apprentices??, its okay if you dont want to))

((Yea, that's fine. I gtg after this though. Bye)) Mistpaw nodded and ran up the tree, fear in her eyes. Mistpaw knew that they couldn't take on a fox. Not yet. She gasped at Rainpaw, who stood his ground.
"Rainpaw!" She hissed "Get up here!"
Rainpaw shook his head.
"I will fight" He mewed determindly. Not waiting for Mistpaw's resonse, Rainpaw walked over to Willowstar to help in the fight.

Willowstar felt Rainpaw's presence and turned to him, "Rainpaw" she meowed "You have to go back to the tree, please, you have to stay safe!" If Rainpaw got hurt it would be all her fault. But the element of surprise would be gone in just a few moments. "Please Rainpaw!" she pleaded silently. But the Fox was to close now to move with out it hearing.

"No" Rainpaw whispered "I'm fighting" His eyes held sheer determination. Looking into them you'd know that you wouldn't get to tell Rainpaw otherwise. The young cat bunched his muscles and readied himself for the attack.

Willowstar couldnt do anything about it now, the fox was to close to the edge of the small drop, creeping to the edge Willowstar looked at Rainpaw and wispered "I will jump down and scare it first, THEN you come and help me run it away. And in a split second she had dropped over the edge, to face the unwanted visitor.

Rainpaw nodded. He sat there, tail around his paws, waiting. He looked at Mistpaw, who looked distraught with worry.
That's right Rainpaw thought to himself she's never seen a fox before. No wonder she's so frightened

Willowstar quickly caught site of the fox and hissed, her back arched. The fox stared at her unfased. Then quickly, with no waringing Willowstar struck out, her claws mercilessly cutting away at the fox's side. In realilization the fox in turn snarled and began to make clumsy lunges at her. Willowstar, who was more agile than the fox still was making marks on her enemy. Suddenly realizeing that it was no match it began to run, the wrong way, it was going straight towards Mistpaw.

Mistpaw felt fear pierce through her. She didn't know how to fight! Well, she was in the tree, and foxes couldn't climb right. A moment later she realized it wouldn't have to. A loud crack was heard, and the branch fell without warning to the ground, trapping Mistpaw beneath it.
"Mistpaw!" Rainpaw cried racing forward. He lunged for the fox, trying to keep it away from her.
"Stay away from my sister!" He spat menacingly.
