Willowstar was taking a walk along the borders, she was opening her mouth to draw in the scents, there was nothing unusual so she kept going. There was nothing to do in the camp at the moment so she was planning to do a little hunting on the way back.

Raptorpaw glared at the gray body that nibbled on seeds. The mouse was going to be his. The dark brown body sprang at the rodent. It was succ- no! His claws ran right outside the thin line of the mouse's tail. Failed... again. The apprentice stood and sighed. His ears pricked when he heard Willowstar's approach. He turned towards his leader with a small smile on his lips.

Willowstar saw Raptorpaw standing in the forest looking disappointed. She wondered what had happened. As she approached she asked him "What is the matter Raptorpaw" But just as she said it she heard a faint rustle in the leaves near by. She instinctivly dropped into a hunter's crouch and crawled forward silently, signaling Raptorpaw to not make a noise. Then she saw it, there was a plump squirrel nibbling on some nuts, unaware of it's predator almost three tail lengths away from it. In an instant she was on it a quickly bit it's neck, killing it right then. She picked it up in her jaws and padded back to Raptorpaw to wait for his answer.

Raptorpaw smiled like a foolish kit. "Wow! Nice catch, Willowstar!" he mewed blissfully. The tom's smile disintigrated on the spot when he had to answer her question, though. "... But.... I could never catch a squirrel..." he mewed disapointedly. He was just having an off day, though. For, in truth, the young apprentice could most definately catch something, if he had tried a tad harder.

"Well" she meowed "I might be able to help you with that, if you want help that is" She sat down and began to groom herself while waiting for Raptorpaw to answer.

ooc:// S'all right.
ic:// Raptorpaw lowered his head. "Well... It's just... I'm eight moons old, and still no mentor!" he mewed, distress clutching his voice. "I know the Warrior Code, and I know how to fight, but I just... Can't... Hunt..." The tom dipped his head. 'I sound like an idiot...' he thought.

"Well you will get a mentor soon and you will be taught how to hunt" Willowstar said knowingly. Since there weren't many warriors in the clan she was think ing about mentoring Raptorpaw himself. maybe nest week I could announce his mentor she thought. "But, since I am not doing anything right now I can teach you some things. How about we go down to the fallen tree, there is lots of prey around there, I am sure you wil be able to catch something there."
